Angel

On Saturday, March 27, 2010 at approximatley 10:00 a.m. my angel put on his furry wings and went to heaven. He waited until I was there and took his last breath while we where together, we were waiting for the doctor to come in and I begged him to go to sleep, and he did.

His body rejected the treatments and no matter how hard to doctors tried they just could not help him.

My heart hurts in a way it has never hurt before....I have lost pets, Nike to cancer and Wickett to old age, but my boy was only 7 and up until Tuesday morning was happy and healthy. He was suppose to be with me forever. He was perfect, the best boy a mom could ask for, I just wish I could have done more to save him. I feel like I failed him, I failed to protect him, I failed to keep him safe, failed to miss a sign that he was sick to catch it sooner. I know I say these things out of hurt and I know oneday I will realize that I spared no expense to help him, but it still hurts.

He will always have a special place in my heart and will never be forgotten. But I would still give everything I have to have him back.

My baby boy

My baby is sick, very sick, and my heart is broken, beyond broken.....even as I type this I cannot stop the tears.

I took him in for what I thought was a bladder infection, instead at 1:00pm we were loaded in the car on our way to Western Veterinary Specialist Centre in Calgary so he could get blood transfusions.

He has what they think is Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. His own immune system is destroying his red blood cells. Not sure of the cause, the chest x-ray and abdominal scan came back clean so no cancer, he did not eat onions, garlic or Tylenol, not tick season.....no answers and its driving me crazy. After his first transfusion his red cell count is up but he is still sad and threw up a few times last night.

I have never prayed so much in my whole life and hoping that at some point I have done something right to help make this go well and for him to get better. There is a 50/50 chance for recovery, I want so badly for him to be the one out of the two dogs that makes it.

I wish I did not care so much, I wish I had talked myself out of getting him when I saw him that day, I wish I was not raised to love animals so much, but most of all I wish this was just a bad dream.

I will continue to hope and pray, he is in the best facility possible to treat this and even if it ends the way I do not want it to I can say I did all I could.

Strange Little Guy

So when I bring out the camera Rylee runs and hides.....I try to to hide it but even the noise of it turning on results in this....

The other night I was in the kitchen and heard the distinct sound of the camera flash, now since I was in the kitchen I had my audience behind me waiting for something to drop, so I asked who Tim was taking pictures of....to which he replies Rylee. I come around the corner and the little bugger is sitting right next to him and posing for the camera.

I just don't get it!!!

Birthday Boy!

My baby boy is 6 today. I cannot believe how quickly the time has passed when I actually think about it. I still remember the cute little fluff ball that would fall asleep in my arms.

So today will be filled with lots of cuddles, extra special treats, a truck ride and a cheeseburger!!

Since I have not had a foster dog in a few weeks I have really noticed just how much it affects my own dogs, especially Rylee. He always like to sleep out on the couch or in the sun on the dog bed but the past year stays mostly in the bedroom which I thought was just him being him (he is a little crusty sometimes). But since there is no foster dog around he likes to hang out with me in the livingroom on the couch and is a much happier dog. I am guessing he feels there is enough competition for attention with the ones that live there already and then I keep adding to it. Poor guy I feel bad now, hopefully the cheeseburger will help him forgive me =)

Hard At Work...

When the big boss is away, the little boss comes to fill in.....

First you start your day with a hello to everyone making sure they know you are here and in charge for the day.....

Turn on the computer and start your day....

Greet the clients as they come in the door....

Patrol the halls checking to ensure everyone is hard at work....

And at about 10 o'clock settle in for a nap, being the boss is exhausting....

Can you tell its slow at the office today??? =)

The Boss

Rylee was a first for me. I had always been a big dog person never really wanted a little dog, let alone a little boy dog, never had good experiences with little boy dogs always peeing on things or humping. But then I met Mr. Rylee.

My mom was working at a grooming shop and a lady brought in some puppies that she wanted to sell. His brother and sister where snapped up right away leaving Rylee all alone. Since I rode to work with my mom in the morning I would usually walk down there on my lunch hour and then after work I would have to hang out for a bit until she was done. So to pass the time I would play with the store cat or, since there was a puppy there play with him. Well Rylee preferred to cuddle and fall asleep in my arms instead of playing. So day after day I would go there cuddle him until he feel asleep, hold him for awhile then go back to work or leave for the day. Well Rylee started to enjoy our cuddle time and would get excited when I would get to the shop. After a few days of contemplating (or maybe it was seconds) Rylee came home to join the family.

Life with a small puppy was quite a challenge, big dogs are soooo much easier to potty train. It never occurred to me not to let him sleep on the bed at night when he was little, all the big dogs did, they would just jump down in the middle of the night if they had to go outside. Well it did not take long to find out that was not the case with Rylee, instead I woke up to a warm puddle by my pillow. Then there was the trip to Calgary, we went shopping for the day and took him along since he loved car rides. He refused to go to the bathroom the entire trip, no matter how many walks and stops we made to let him go, he chose instead to wait until we where seconds from home and went on my lap, not fun, kind of funny now but not at the time.

My baby boy is now 5 years old and still as cute as ever. He is well behaved, still loves to cuddle and makes sure everyone in the house knows he runs the show. He may be little but he is still the boss of the house. I know your not suppose to have a favorite, and not admitting that I do, but I might....
