Impatiently Waiting

I am impatiently waiting for this to arrive......

The good news is she is being built this week and should be here in a few weeks.

Sophie is excited too as I found and ordered this for her.....

She loves to go swimming in the river at Popson Park, which usually results in a very muddy hairy monster.

Momma's Girl

Roxy loves her Momma.....and her Momma loves her.

And no I did not set them up for this picture, I was doing the dishes and looked back to see them behind me...its too stinking cute the way they are together.

Wishful Thinking...

Two windy and cold hours in the dog run, two very full grocery bags and a very sore back later, left me wondering if it is possible to teach my dogs to do this.....

Or maybe this?

It would make things so much easier when the snow melts....

Tear Jerker....

Julia sent this to me today.....the girls at work could not figure out why I was bawling at my desk....until I made them watch it too! Sometimes I find myself so frustrated with rescue and the people who think dogs are disposable like their garbage and wish I could just walk away.....but then I watch this and am quickly reminded why I do what I do.

Luck

If I did not have bad luck I would have no luck at all...seriously I am not sure what else could go wrong in past month.

First the extended warranty runs out on my truck.....a week before this happens I had to have a transmission over haul, only to have it break down 2 days after getting it back...still covered under warranty but frustrating all the same. Ever since the day the warranty ended something has been going wrong...so I decided to buy myself a Christmas present and ordered a GMC Terrain. Started my truck last week and it made a horrible noise, praying all the way to the dealership that it was the transmission because at least it is still covered....nope, rather a water pump....bill to fix $800!! Luckily I have a handy guy in my life and we fixed it for $100 (and a lot of swearing in the process), the cost of the part, its unreal what the labour charges are for mechanical work.

Also shortly before Christmas I was walking across the street, in a crosswalk with a walk signal, when some idiot in a truck with a dirty windshield plowed into me. Thank god he was turning the corner so was not a very fast speed, but still, hit by a freaking truck.....I am still trying to figure out what the heck I did wrong there. The stupid insurance company has been far from helpful, I now totally understand why my clients are so frustrated when they have claims. The adjuster actually asked me why I was not paying attention, I don't know about you but I normally do not cross the street looking behind me!

But even with all the frustration I walk past Sophie's bed and see this......

And I forget all the crappy stuff and smile.....I love it when I see the two of them snuggling together.

I love these guys so much....I could not imagine life without them, they make me smile everyday.

Staying

I am sure no one who knows me is at all surprised to hear that I have decided to keep Jessi.

She is a very sweet and odd little dog with some huge issues....she came from a dog hoarder/breeder, had little human contact from anyone other than the lady who owned her, hates men and is a biter with a major attitude. Since I have had her, 4 months now, she is learning that people are ok, is learning how to play, has gone from being litter trained to fully housetrained and is figuring out that people mainly men are ok, thanks to my very patient boyfriend and brother. She actually sleeps on the couch by Tim now, still a bit scared if he startles her but this a huge step from her wanting to bite his face off and bolting from the room whenever he came into it.

She still needs some work on her possessiveness of her "person", (me when I am here and my sister when I am not) when other dogs are around but we have been working hard on this and she is starting to understand....did I mention she is a bit bull headed. I still have to watch her around new people to make sure she does not bite, but I have had a biter before and know how to deal with it. She has been quite a challenge but the more and more work we put in together the more wonderful I think she is.

I still remember the first day I met her when i went to pick her up....she was a matted mess, scared and even tried to bite me. The lady who was surrendering them to us (her owner passed away in a car accident) was going to have her put down since no one could get near her and she had lots of sores on her, so i covered her with a towel and scooped her up. I realize sometimes a dog has to be put down due to behaviour issues, but seeing the conditions she was living in, she at least deserved a chance even if it had ended that way.

So my house is now full, no more room on the bed and everyone is getting along fine. So needless to say I am done fostering for a very long time....but I do enough other stuff to make up for it so I do not feel bad. The difference in my own dogs without something new to deal with every few weeks is noticeable, something I just did not realize before.

Merry Christmas

Yes I know its a repeat but I seem to have misplaced my camera (I hope I am right on my guess as to what Tim got me for Christmas) but the furry kids wanted to say Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone!!!!
