Zoey has a new BFF.....
I am not really sure how happy she is about it though, she normally does not pay much attention to other dogs.

Jessi is trying her best to get Zoey to love her, even tried to play with her yesterday, but Zoey just snubbed her and walked away.

I see so many similarities in the girls, so darn cute too.

So Desi, you keep saying you want Zoey, well here she is just a different color!

This is my new foster dog, and I love her, like really love her. Her name is Jessi and she was one of four dogs that I went to pick up a few weeks ago, their owner suddenly passed away and the family did not want the dogs anymore. Jessi's brother and sisters have all gone off to their new homes and she is patiently awaiting hers.

Jessi is a bit of a project, she is very timid and does not take to new people, but with time patience and the right approach her true fantastic personality comes through. She is still unsure of the big dogs, could really care less about the the little ones and does not even bother with the cats. She is housetrained and is happy to cuddle on the couch or dog bed with Zoey. I think what I love the most is that when you see her and Baylee side by side they are like Dr. Evil and Mini Me, same colouring and haircut.

She has only been at my house for a few days and I think this is going to be the hardest one to say goodbye to, so hopefully someone will want her soon, very, very soon!!! I think I have decided no more foster dogs for me, I thought it would get easier with each one, but its just getting harder. Especially with the ones like Jessi, who are not the happy go lucky kind and really could care less were they are or who they are with. I just get the poor little girl to trust me and then ship her off to another strange place. I always wonder if they think I am sending them away, or do not care about them anymore, I know I am crazy its ok I accepted that along time ago! :)

For Ivy

It has been quite a busy summer with rescue, babysitting dogs and rescue, so it was hard finding time to do anything let alone blog.

Ivy spend three weeks at my house while her family went away. I had a ton of cute pictures of her with the little dogs but somehow I have lost them in computer neverland. So Miss Ivy, its not that I did not love you enough to blog about you, just did not have any pictures!!!!! ;-)

I was able to find these ones of her in my truck. I had gone to pick up some dogs that were being surrendered to the rescue, my truck was full of crates, dog food and beds leaving only a small spot for Ivy to sit at the very back. Well she did not feel it was enough room so she proceeded to climb on top of everything and rode on crates and dog food all the way home, quite content about it too.

She was a great house guest, despite the rank gas (and I mean eye watering rank) and hogging the bed.

So Ivy I hope this will suffice and you will still love me....

So I told myself that I would never pick favorites with my dogs, well in the past 2 months I have changed my my favorite....

Why you ask...well the rest have abandoned me for my boyfriend Tim. I am now merely the person who feeds them and is good enough to cuddle with when he is not around. Zoey was still with me until a few days ago, but she too has gone over to the other side...even our furry sleep over friends would rather cuddle with him.

Roxy on the other hand still loves her Mamma the most, he is ok but the minute I sit down or if I am in another room she would rather be with me.

Secretly I am ok with it, because really if he can put up with all the brats bugging him I am happy...that and I know one day he will have to get after them and then they will come crawling back.....

The Meaning of Rescue

I have not done much with the other rescue I am part of lately as I just do not have the time or the room in my house with the summer sleepover dogs, but this past week they needed a home check done so I met with some people interested in adopting Calley. She is a dog who was available for adoption through the Canadian Chihuahua Rescue & Transport. Super nice couple who I am happy to say were approved and Calley went to her new home this past weekend.

I had a lengthy visit with the couple and our discussion reminded me of a poem someone sent me about rescue. I have been bad in the past and paid for a dog from a breeder, but I can honestly say I will never do that again, knowing now that just because a dog is a rescue does not mean they are bad dogs, usually just stupid owners. My two rescue girls are fantastic, better dogs than money can buy.

The Meaning of Rescue

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed
All nicely tucked in my warm bed,I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is much to carry -
So much to forget

Hmmm . . . Yes, there it is, right on the top
Let's unpack loneliness, heartache and loss;
And there by my leash hides fear and shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me.
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.

Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things -
And take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never repack?

I pray that you do -
I'm so tired you see.
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?

Weekend Guest

This is Duke and this was how he spent the majority of his weekend. He was a perfect gentleman, put up with Casey biting his ankles, tried to flirt with the girls but much to his dismay they were not into him and won the championship title against Marlee in their WWF rumble in the living room. I enjoyed having him and I hope he liked it here too, I was going to attempt to spray paint Casey black and send him home with Sandy instead but I figured she might notice.
I also recently got a new babygate for my house and it rocks (I know I need a life when a new babygate is the highlight of my day), although Marlee & Alfie have figure out how to open it, while Roxy just squeezes through the bars, I am sure she is part mouse. This is the pitiful scene this afternoon when I put them in the bedroom for a time out.
