Fun In the Sun

I bought the dogs a pool today, Nik decided he should play in it too.... Casey was the only one patient enough to go in with him....

Can you tell how happy Casey is to be in there?

Poor Casey....

I told him if he just stood there it would be over soon enough....

He finally made his escape.
Roxy even tried but it was too cold.
Sophie finally came out and was more than happy to hang out in the pool, she wants to go swimming in the pond in the worst way but will not be able to do that for awhile so settled for the kiddy pool.

Sophie had her follow up appointment today, she has been doing great all weekend and Kendra the vet is very happy with her progress, and best of all the test results for the tissue samples came back and its not cancer!!!

Home....

I can honestly say I have never been this happy, my girl is home.....

The days ahead are filled with lots of pills, lots of some unfortunate temperature taking and a visit to Dr. Kendra again for more blood tests, but we do not mind (well Sophie minds the temperature part).

She is enjoying her new bed, following me everywhere and getting to have lots of wet food.
Did I mention how HAPPPYYYYYY I am!!!!

Doing Much Better!!!

Sophie says thank you everyone for you good thoughts she is feeling much better!!! She ate today, went for a walk and was happy. I tried to get a few pictures of her with my phone but the moment I moved she moved too, she was stuck to me like glue.

Her fever is gone and she is getting lots of antibiotics so they are thinking I may get to bring her home tomorrow. I am soooooo excited. Little Roxy will be happy too, she misses her Momma, she has been so sad the past few days.

Progress

Sophie went back to the vet's today and it was decided to do surgery to see what was up in her belly. When they opened her up she has 2 sections of her intestine that were rotten and one was perforated so fluid was leaking into her abdomen. They took the 2 bad sections out and sent them away to be tested to see why this happened and then put her all back together. Still a good chance she may get an infection from the fluid that leaked in but they are giving her lots of antibiotics to help this. The vet said we have to take it day by day now for the next little bit but they are hopeful and I am keeping my hopes up too, shes a fighter and now we are on the right track.

I went and visited with her for a little bit tonight but she was pretty drugged up and sleeping.

Thank you to everyone for your suggestions and good thoughts for my girl....

Back to Square One

So Sophie's blood tests are back and everything is normal, which is good but does not help to figure out what is wrong. She is still not eating much more than a treat or two here and there and can only keep small amounts of water down.

So back in she goes tomorrow for another x-ray and depending on what that shows they may open her up to see if there is a blockage somewhere. I am not sure how many more sleepless nights and worry filled days I can take and I am sure Sophie is not enjoying this feeling either. Anyone who knows Sophie is well aware of what a happy playful dog she is, but the past week she just sleeps and is depressed it is so sad.

Hopefully all the answer will come tomorrow and we will both get a good nights sleep.

Sick Momma

Sophie is at the vet right now and has been there since this morning. When I got home late last night she was sick a few times, then a few more times overnight and several times today. She has always been a strange dog when it comes to tummy trouble so the odd vomit here and there is not a big deal. But I started to get worried when she was not even able to keep water down. I was gone all day yesterday on a shopping trip and while I was gone someone (someone - Baylee) jumped on the kitchen table to look out the window and knocked over some flowers. My best guess is that at some point she ate some of the petals or leaves and it has upset her tummy. She was fine when my sister came to check on the dogs and feed them, even ate her dinner and was trying to eat everyone else's too.

So $420 later still not sure what is wrong with her, she is still getting sick and has to stay at the vets overnight. Other than the getting sick and being a bit tired she checks out ok. I am sick with worry and it sucks! I just want my big annoying hairy attention hog to be ok....

Bored.....

Holidays

The dogs were hoping for weather to do this, but its not looking so promising.

I was suppose to go camping with some friends but the plans fell through so I am hanging at home with the furry kids for the week. Either way its not work so I am happy.....

Relax

I have decided I really do not know what that word means.... I actually got to sit down and do nothing tonight....it got boring after about 5 minutes....everyone else in the house knows how to relax, I wish they would share their secret....

Logan wants to tell me he says but I think what he really wants is me to move so he can get back on the couch

Miss Congeniality

This is my sister's dog Marley....doesnt she look like a little angel.....haha wrong.

She is essentially a 10lb out of control mutt. No idea what breed she is, has webbed feel like a retriever but the energy of a jack russell.

She is incredibly smart and taught herself to sit within an hour, I was teaching Logan to sit one day and she was just watching us and by the time we were done she was sitting to.

She has the whole puppy dog eye thing down to an art.

Archie loves her.....

She is everyone's friend and her and Sophie often get in trouble together, there is no end to their playing.

Email

I get alot of emails forwarded to me and to be honest I do not even read half of them unless its cute pet pictures or animal related in general. I especially hate those ones that tell you if you do not forward it to X number of people you will have bad luck, stupid I know but I have myself convinced that is why I have such crappy luck. This is one I got today that I quite liked, sorry its quite long but a good one:

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years.. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered. 'Wow! Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up.'The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked.
'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.

After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence.
As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in..'
'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.
'There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.

The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.

When they were full , he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.
'This is Heaven,' he answered.
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'
'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'

Vogue

My favorite photos are usually the ones that do not make it to the blog. Roxy is my favorite subject, she likes to pose for me, which is strange considering her tom boy attitude. Too stinking cute for words!!!
